About our school

Broadway Academy at Mount Pleasant is a public charter school serving students in kindergarten through eighth grade in the Mount Pleasant neighborhood of Cleveland, Ohio. The Ohio Department of Education grades every school in the state, and Broadway Academy earned 5 stars for Progress, 5 stars for Gap Closing, and a 4-star overall rating for the 2024–25 school year. The school’s Performance Index score jumped from 62.3 to 78.4 in a single year, a gain of more than 25 percent. Ohio charter schools are also ranked against one another, and Broadway Academy scores in the top 15 percent statewide.

Broadway Academy is built around high academics. That means the school is organized around academic mastery, not around theme-based extras or enrichment add-ons. The structure of the school day, the way teachers group students, the way progress gets measured, and the way instruction responds to what students actually know: all of it's pointed at the same outcome. A student who’s behind gets caught up. A student who’s ahead gets pushed. They aren’t decorative features. They’re the method.

At Broadway Academy, that academics-first approach goes hand in hand with genuine attention to each child's social and emotional growth — so students aren't just advancing grade levels, they're building the confidence and resilience to sustain it.

It’s a publicly funded school. There’s no tuition, no fees, and no cost to families.

Every student gets free breakfast and lunch every school day.
Eligible students receive free transportation.
